World Cup Fever, Wimbledon and Summer Inspire a Good Physique

Life is Too Short for Bank Holiday Monday Rain!

It was a glorious Sunday catching up on a pre-summer tan in the glorious London sunshine with my girlfriends on a roof terrace in bikinis.  Deciding it was time for some action, we took off for some open air tennis courts, cause hey- it’s not every day in London you can play a good game in the sun.  We all got a little competitive with each other, but all is fair in tennis and Le Short!

After working up a good game- and a fair too many calories, us girlfriends were unanimous; it was time for a post tennis treat. Time to head to Knightsbridge and hit Harvey Nichols for some apres tennis bubbles and food. The smoked salmon on toast was perfect, though Sarah’s quinoa, crab and avocado salad looked mouth-watering from across the table!

After a night on the town the girls were all pumped for an extra day off on Bank Holiday Monday, but oh no- rain! Relax girls, we had our dose of sunshine yesterday; there’s plenty to do in London town. Studying Renaissance art at UCL, Sarah dragged us down to Trafalgar Square to get some culture in at the National Gallery to see Veronese’s exhibition- on until June 3rd. The beautiful depictions of Venice reminded me of the first trip abroad  I took with my boyfriend last September, and it gave me the best of vibes as I put on my lipstick and my fab new Le Short gold flecked jeans for our date to see X-Men tonight!

So whatever you’re doing on this Bank Holiday Monday evening, whether it’s going out with your friends, your partner, or simply staying in to catch up on some good TV while the rain pitter patters outside, remember there’s always so much to do in this fab city. Model Search for June Shoot 2014

The weather over the bank holiday in London was pretty glorious for the most part, much to the delight of Londoners all around. For once, the powers that be decided to take it gently on the city’s workers and showers us not with rain but sunshine and moments of genuine warm rays that hinted of a potential glorious summer to come.

As the winds blow strong and the skies turn gloomy this weekend there is no need to despair, as seasoned Londoners know that these dark clouds too shall pass. Instead, as the weekend approaches it is time to take matters into our own hands and try a hand at something fun and fitness for the body.

Not only is summer and bikini time imminent, but Le Short has been busy shooting its Winter Collection with gorgeous model Dawa Ma and talented top photographer Stephanie Dray- and another shoot is in the pipeline for June.

For our June Photoshoot, Le Short has decided to open up the playing field for all you aspiring models out there. Yes, we are on a model search to discover the next hidden beauty amongst the public who would like to get her feet wet in the world of fashion modelling.  As rain pours against my windows,  I am sure the pun was intended. Empowered Women and Women’s History Month March 2014

Empowered women is my motto as March and this annual Women’s History Month draws to a close. History is full of empowered women, this month saw the centenary on March 3rd marking 100 years since suffragists marched on Washington. A name with which we are all familiar but perhaps do not all know that Eleanor Roosevelt was a central component in some of the most vital social reform movements of the twentieth century: the Progressive movement, the New Deal, the Women’s Movement, the struggle for racial justice, and the United Nations.

 

As for the fashion world, what better inspiration than the divine and innovative Coco Chanel? After being taught how to sew by a relative, glamourous Coco started her career designing hats. Her style, talent and perseverance saw Coco Chanel evolving into one of the most influential designers and brands that dominate the fashion industry to this day.

Today we women do not face the battles of gender politics these women faced: they are the pioneers who paved the way for us all to go out there as modern, empowered women and seize the day.

So whatever your dream, whatever your hidden career desire, go out and get it girls- because these women certainly did!

London is Happening Now

The mirage of an Indian summer may be (at least temporarily) put on hold this weekend as Londoners return to weather more familiar. Colder temperatures and greyer skies are said to prevail, but that does not mean that spirits should drop as there is plenty to do in this vibrant city that is London. The National Gallery has it’s first Veronese exhibition, a marvelous Venetian painter whose visual style can enthrall and titillate even reluctant art-goers. http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/veronese

Several great films are out in the cinema, one I am looking forward to seeing on Sunday is George Clooney’s Monuments Men. I have also heard good things about A Grand Budapest Hotel, by zany visual master Wes Anderson. And for those seeking perhaps more serious and weep-worthy drama, there is The Book Thief, a touching drama that even had my Dad shed a tear!

And for those with a few squid in the pocket, why not pop off for a bit of TLB? Tender Loving Beach is a good way to go, or as my pals in Cap Ferrat put it, why not just all pitch in and rent a cottage and a boat? As I rather enviously view their sun-kissed photographs I cannot help feel that they have got it right.

As for me? This girl will be sticking on a pair of my favourite Le Shorts and getting my winter butt down to the gym for some good workouts – as I will have gorgeous gams like these come June!

Sunshine set to Rock the Weekend in London

Get your socks off and Le Shorts rolling; it’s going to be a scorcher this weekend.
